The Library design provided a state-of-the-art facility utilizing an “open stacks” layout. The special collections area utilized “closed stacks” which were provided with a dedicated environmental control system. The Library was maintained at 72°F, 35% relative humidity in the winter and 75°F, 50% relative humidity in the summer. Other specialty areas included a Grand Hall, which was used as a Student Lounge and Banquet Hall.
The HRC HVAC system included a heat recovery heat pump air handling unit for the natatorium, which recovered heat from dehumidification and used it to reheat supply air and pool water. The HRC also housed a new heating / cooling plant utilizing two (2) direct fired chiller heaters which served both new buildings and were cross connected with the existing Gym Building boiler plant. K&L Group provided schematic design services for the HRC and full engineering services were provided for the Library.
